As corporate vice president at Microsoft, Stutz had been in charge of setting the long-term strategy and technology direction for the company's on-premises and cloud versions of its Dynamics CRM offering. Salesforce confirmed in a statement today that Stutz will serve as chief analytics officer under Alex Dayon, who is the company's president of products.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Stutz was senior vice president and general manager of business solutions at HP. A 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army with degrees in government studies and human resources, Stutz has also worked at SAP and Siebel Systems.
Stutz 'Transformed Dynamics CRM'
"I want to thank my great team at MSFT & the ecosystem for a great 3.5 yrs," Stutz wrote in a post published Monday evening on his Twitter page. Now to travel the world for a long overdue break. I will be back." His tweet generated more than two dozen responses and well-wishes from colleagues and friends.
"The Dynamics CRM product has leapt forward in capability and ease of use due to your leadership Bob," wrote John O'Donnell, a member of the Dynamics CRM senior partner practice team. "Many thanks and all the best."
In a statement yesterday, a Microsoft spokesperson said, "Over the past 3.5 years, Bob and his team have transformed Dynamics CRM from an industry challenger to a clear leader. We thank Bob for his contributions and wish him the best in his next adventure."
Jujhar Singh Named Successor
"We're thrilled that Bob Stutz will be joining Salesforce as chief analytics officer," Dayon said in a statement released by Salesforce. "Bob not only has deep enterprise software experience, he's also a proven leader who'll drive the vision and execution for the Analytics Cloud as we build it into a billion dollar business for Salesforce."
Replacing Stutz at Microsoft will be Jujhar Singh, who until now has handled program and product management as general manager for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
"Jujhar has been a key driver of innovation in our CRM business and was responsible for the product strategy and direction of the Dynamics CRM product line and incubating newly acquired companies," the Microsoft spokesperson said. "Jujhar has been front and center in developing the vision that we have for intelligent customer engagement today."
Salesforce announced its entry into the analytics market last October with the launch of its Wave cloud platform. Designed as an intuitive tool for business users, Wave enables data analysis and social collaboration through a schema-free architecture and free-form queries.
